Goalie Assessments Tuesday May 30th  – 5pm to 7pm

In addition to field player tryouts, HYSA will be holding a goalie assessment session for incoming grade 7 & 8 players only; (i.e. if s/he will be in grade 7 or 8 starting next fall, they can attend the goalie assessment.)

HYSA does not conduct goalie assessments for grade 4 through 6 travel teams.

The goalie assessment is not a tryout but a way for your player to indicate their willingness to play the position as well as to provide the age group coordinators with an additional data point during select and travel team assignments.

HYSA believes youth players need to continue to develop as field players to develop foot skills and field awareness.  As such, HYSA discourages players to become full time goalies at the youth level.  It is HYSA’s policy that for players that are interested in focusing on the goalie position, that they have an opportunity to play both as a goalie and as a field player on any team.

Please note any player that attends the goalie assessment must still attend the 7th and 8th grade field player tryouts on May 19th and May 31st. Travel team placement will primarily depend on the players evaluation during the field player tryouts.

It is also important to note that players who do not attend the assessment will still have an opportunity to play goalie during the season at the discretion of their coach.

Goalie assessments will be run by Framingham State University soccer coach (and former FSU goalkeeper) Kristina Kern and held at Marshall Street Field 1 on May 30th from 5pm to 7pm.  The one session will be for both girls and boys teams.

Please RSVP with Coach Kern at by May 26th.
